Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Preparation of Master Plan/Development Plan of the Urban Areas.
  2. Development and Execution of Urban Infrastructure Schemes and Projects
  3. Implementation and Enforcement of the Master Plan
  4. Proper Management of Urban Areas with emphasis on provision of infrastructure and civic amenities to ensure a healthy living environment and to facilitate economic growth.
  5. Urban Poverty Alleviation and Slum Improvement.
  6. Coordination of issues related to Urban Planning, Urban Development Programmes and Schemes and Urban Management.

With the above objectives in mind, Directorate of Urban Affairs is implementing the following schemes:
